Disclaimer

The style of Flag Football that Northwest Ohio Flag Football, LLC offers does include a fair amount of contact.  Our rules are based upon the flag football rules laid out by the USFTL and interpreted locally and enforced as such.  Every attempt is made by all members of NWOFF, LLC.to provide safe and orderly play in conjunction with the rules set forth.  However injuries may occur and this aspect of our game should be carefully considered prior to your participation.  If you are in anyway concerned about the amount of contact involved you should not participate.  Also, if you have any questions about what is or is not allowed by the rules in our game please feel free to contact me and I will clarify any rules that may concern you.  This is not an attempt to discourage anyone from participating, only an attempt to make players aware of the possibility of injury playing a sport that involves some degree of contact.

**Local Rule Modifications**

  1. The latest USFTL Rulebook governs all play and is applied as interpreted by the local Director with the exceptions of the items listed below.
  2. “Point Rule” – In addition to the USFTL rule of a game ending when a team is up 17 pts. with two minutes to play, in Toledo, a team that is up 33 pts. at anytime in the second half or 25 pts. with 10 minutes to play will end the game.  This rule is modified to help shorten “blowouts” and keep the tournament on schedule.  The Referees should let both teams know when a team is approaching this margin of victory.
  3. “Ejection Rule” – Referees do have the authority to sit players down for any number of plays to diffuse a situation.  Any game ejection carries a game you are in PLUS two additional games and a $50 fine no matter what point in the game the ejection takes place.  .  If you throw a punch, you are automatically ejected from the tournament and fined $50.  The tournament director has the authority to modify the ejection rule at any point to adjust for the situation
  4. “Player Protests” – Player protests must be made before the end of the first half along with a $50 refundable protest fee should the protest go through – THIS APPLIES TO A PLAYER PROTEST ONLY.  You must pay $50 to even view another teams roster.
  5. “Rules Interpretation Protest” – Should you feel a rule was misapplied on the field, you may call timeout BEFORE the next play begins and present the head referee with the rule IN THE USFTL RULEBOOK within 3 minutes of the timeout.  Should the rule show the referee was in error the play will be corrected and you will receive your timeout back.  Have your rulebook ready, we will not wait for you to find it.  THIS RULE ONLY APPLIES TO HOW A RULE IS APPLIED – NOT - A REFEREES JUDGEMENT CALL.
  6. “Game Over” – once the final whistle blows the game is considered complete and final.  NO protests of any type will be allowed or even listened to once a game is over.
